OMG. I finished Deathly Hallows last night/this morning just before 1 am. I'm going to re-read some parts of it later this morning.

And thus we know why the comment occurred a few books back about him having his mothers eyes.

YES. All that time I thought it either didn't mean anything other than 'hey this is a part of his mother he can carry with him' or whatever....but so. MUCH more significant. I thought I'd hate it, but I rather like Snape/Lily.

I'd love to read fics about their friendship. Of course, now I'm going to have to reread the books all over again (and I JUST did that, too! LOL) to try and catch other subtleties.

...I love Potterverse.

i dunno... maybe it's just because i KNOW it's over now...

but... IMO, it felt sort of as though JK was rushing to tie up the loose ends too quickly...some were way too tidy some were left way too loose. and the epilogue read like bad fanfic, sort of. i don't want to go into specifics here in case anyone on your friends list reads this and doesn't want spoilage! :)

overall, it was a little anticlimactic in a way... don't get me wrong, there were some serious WTF?! moments, but it just seemed like the story grew bigger than JK ever expected, but there was all the hype about this being the last book, about having planned only 7 books, it was like it HAD to be done. maybe she was afraid that if she kept going and let the story tell itself, she might reach a point at which it would seem she was grasping at straws... but i don't think that would have happened if she just let it take its natural course. maybe it's just the writer in me...

i felt kind of the same way i did with the last season of Buffy -- i watched because i wanted to see what happened more out of curiousity than out of caring.

before the book was released, i had a definite opinion about what i did and did not want to happen, especially to Harry, but about halfway through i really didn't care whether he lived or died or how it ended, i just wanted to see what the ending would be. and that's sad. :( and now that i KNOW what happened, i sort of wish the ending was opposite of what i originally wanted.

You know, I did....but there were about thirty minutes worth of reading where I thought I quite didn't. I was relieved when that feeling lifted, and on the whole I loved it, really.

But. There were a few things that just left me kind of empty and annoyed, but hey--it's not my story and as a reader, I don't get to make that call. But DAMN.

1. I REALLY wanted to see how Tonks & Remus died, I'm not clever enough to write my own fic about it, I don't think (I'm only good at smut & gore & insanity) but now it's going to be right up there with the bubblegum wrappers...I'll be forever searching for the 'perfect' fic to explain it.

2. I love that Molly went all Adavrakarazy on Bella, but I'd had the tiniest hope that Neville would get a good shot in (I think he made up for it with Nagini though) ...and maybe Andromeda would bitch-slap her sister. Just once.

3. Andromeda & Ted. I so, so wanted to see more of them. Especially Andromeda.

4. Also, not enough McGonagall. And not enough Snape! (Ha! Not enough pages!) I thought I'd hate the whole Snape/Lily thing going into it, but it's grown on me, it really has. Oh shit. I'm turning into a sap. Next thing I'll be watching Lifetime movies for the content and not to MST3K them.

I'm also not sure about the epilogue. On one hand, I expected it and wanted to see it. On the other, it seems a tiny bit too fluffy. (I hate when my thoughts conflict and get all contradictory. Ugh.) I also wished that we would have found out what happened to more of the characters.

Mostly, I'm just sad it's over. (Though I'm looking forward to fanart made of win and awesome....and good fanfic, too.)

How did you feel when you finished it?

I agree with you on the Remus and Tonks thing. I was so disappointed that JKR killed them...and barely wrote about their deaths at all. Same goes for Fred, honestly. And yes, I wish there was more Snape time, but I absolutely adored the chapter dedicated to his memories. And I'm very supportive of Snape/Lily, so that was an even better surprise. I didn't think JKR would confirm it.

The epilogue did leave a lot to be desired. I especially wish George had been included...it would have been nice to make sure he didn't kill himself after Fred's death, heh. Certainly would have been devastating for him. And I have to agree with what everyone else I've talked to about this has said--WTFSCORPIUS.

But other than that, I really enjoyed it. It surprisingly doesn't even bother me so much that it was the last book. I'll probably just get addicted to fanfiction again. -.-;
